Dry land practice with the team and all the new members is well under way! We kicked everything off last Thursday, and now are in the full swing of training. Monday evening we went out off the Blue Ridge Parkway to do some hiking and downhill theory training with Dr. Kosmala, then did another hike to get a good view and some good ol’ mountain times.

If anyone is still wanting to join and participate, it is not too late at all! Shoot us an email at asuskiteam@gmail.com or hit us up on Facebook!

Informational Meeting

We have been getting ready for the season with some awesome new ideas to try out for this season. We just met with faculty advisor and coach, Dr. Witold Kosmala. As well as being a concert violinist, a great mathematician, Dr. K is a PSIA Level III instructor; essentially he has his PhD in skiing. We talked dry land training with him and got some awesome ideas. Expect anything from kayaking, mountain biking, and roller skating to develop agility, and endurance and muscle building activities such as weights, stadium running, and ladder drills. Awesome!

Don’t forget next Wednesday at 5:30-6:30 PM in the Table Rock Room of the Student Union we will be having our informational meeting, as well as a cookout afterwards!

The off-season is the time of year we get all our stuff together, because for our token 3 months, it’s all skiing. Right now, the Ski Team is doing an overhaul on the website, by embedding social networking media into the site, making it easier to follow as well as update (even from the hill!).

This blog will host all of our longer updates, trip reports, articles, happenings, etc. Pretty much anything longer than 140 characters will go here. Hit subscribe and keep up with what we are doing this season!

We would love to hear any comments about the new site, blog, Twitter, Flickr, and Facebook accounts that you might have!
